onLine Rating and Application Service
provides companies a convenient,
intuitive, and accurate method of receiving
insurance quotes. The accurately rated and
completely edited quote can be automatically
transferred to the company's policy systems
for integration and processing.
The Netrate ACCESS onLine Rating and Application Service
gives users with Microsoft Windows or a
Web browser direct access
via the NetRate service to company
specific rating programs that are available
regardless of the location of various company back-end
systems, whether they are Mainframe, Client/Server
or Web based. Authorized users can input
client specific information and immediately
access real-time company specific rates for
up-to-date, accurate premium quotes. The data
can then be integrated with ACORD applications
and/or Company specific applications for completion
of application information and submitted directly
to the company's policy processing systems.

Background
The NetRate rating system is a distributed,
object-oriented architecture designed to be
a flexible, standards-based, open system easily
integrated in whole or in part with property
and casualty insurance applications and can
also be used as a stand alone, end-to-end
rating, quoting, storage and retrieval system.
Platform
The NetRate services run on current Windows
Server platforms. Through COM and web services/XML
interfaces, these services can be called
by, or communicate with, applications on
any platform, in any location, written in
any language. As distributed components,
these services may be run on a single system,
or distributed among many systems. The web services
architecture enables load balancing, scalability,
and fail over functionality, allowing the
NetRate system to scale from a single user
to an enterprise.

The NetRate services fall into three categories:

· Validation/Calculation Services,
and,
· Storage Services.
User
Interface / Editing Services
User Interface services include Windows
and Web browser based entry screens as well
as external interfaces via COM or web services/XML
to the user interface data store, allowing
third parties to use specific company and
line of business data to produce their own
rating user interface.
Validation
/ Calculation Services
Validation and Calculation services provide
full underwriting and rating capability
that can be tailored to company-specific
needs.
Storage
Services
Storage Services provides persistent quote
storage and retrieval services. Third parties
may access NetRate's data store directly
or via the XML interface.
